HELLASOD has seven autonomous fully equipped sod farms with a total production capacity which exceeds 1.000.000 m² per annum. Each of these sod farms produces a wide range of sod varieties.
 
The selection of the place and soil is one of the most important factors. The mild micro climate of the area, allows the harvesting of sod any time of the year. The high concentration of sand in the soil (over 80%), allows for rooting wherever the sod is replanted. In order to avoid harmful weeds or mycological infections, the soil is sterilized using environmentally friendly methods (sun sterilization or steam sterilization).
 
Equipment
 
HELLASOD is the first company in Greece that invested in new hi-tech equipment by importing technology and machinery from Europe and the U.S.A. The Big Slabs TM sod cutter revolutionized the way that the sod for soccer fields and large areas is installed. The Big Slabs cuts strips 1m × 60m , collects them automatically and places them in pallets. These strips can be installed at a rate of 1.000 m2/h while the area can be used within a week after installation!
 
HELLASOD is also the only company which has a machine for washing turf, a technology that was applied for the first time at the Olympic Stadium for the Athens Olympics. Better root growth due to uniform root zone material and decreased transportation cost due to turf's smaller size and weight, are the main advantages of this machine. The equipment for cultivating sod includes professional machinery for sod nurseries while the irrigation - hydro lubrication is controlled through electronic means.
 
Regarding the maintenance of soccer fields, the company also owns specialized machinery.
